Sayulita
Mexico Yoga Retreat
March
8 - March 14, 2009
Program:
Join me and a group of warm, friendly folks in
Sayulita, Mexico, a lazy surf town just north of Puerto Vallarta, for a
week long Mexican yoga retreat.
The yoga retreat part of the program will consist of daily
classes and workshops held at the local
yoga studio.
Classes will be appropriate for all levels of students. Workshops will
be geared towards helping you to find new ways to integrate your
"practice" into your daily life.
The retreat begins in the
morning on Sunday, March 8th, and the last session will be in the
morning on Saturday, March 14th, so plan your travel accordingly. The
daily schedule will include one 90 minute class each morning (starting
around 9:30) and one 60 minute class/workshop/discussion each afternoon
(starting around 5:00).
The theme will be anything but austere, and it's
highly likely that margaritas will be enjoyed by all those willing!
Feel free to bring your friends and family, even if they have no
interest in yoga. They can simply chill out on the beach or eat fish
tacos as you twist yourself into a pretzel and search internally for
nirvana.
Additional Events/Excursions:
For those interested in doing something other than catching rays during
the non-yoga portion of the days, I will coordinate a variety of events
(e.g. surf lessons, cooking classes, snorkeling, hiking).
Location:
Located thirty minutes to the north of
Puerto Vallarta, Sayulita is a picturesque Mexican fishing village with
fantastic surfing!
In March the average temperature is a daily
high of 80, a daily low of 62, and a water temperature of 76, so leave
your winter coats at home!
From Wikipedia:
Known for
its consistent river mouth surf break, roving surfers "discovered"
Sayulita in the late 60's with the construction of Mexican Highway 200.
Today, Sayulita is a prosperous growing village of approximately 4,000
residents. Hailed as a popular off-the-beaten-path travel destination,
Sayulita offers a variety of activities such as horseback riding,
hiking, jungle canopy tours, snorkeling and fishing. Still a mecca for
beginner surfers of all ages, the quaint town attracts upscale tourists
with its numerous art galleries and restaurants as well.
Accommodations & Meals:
Rather
than me deciding on where you'll stay, I'll leave that up to you. You
will coordinate your accommodations from the literally hundreds of
villas, hotels, and private residences for rent (the photo to the right
is from an actual rental property).
So if your taste tends to go
to the more luxurious, seek out the
Four
Seasons just south at Punta Mita, and if you tend to be a bit
more bohemian maybe find the perfect one bedroom casita with thatched
roof and ocean view.
Many of these rentals can be found online
at:

If there are a number of single occupancy type of folks who sign up
and are interested in sharing a home, I can facilitate introductions so
that you might find a sweet place together.
Meals will not be
included, but for all those interested we'll likely be getting together
to make/share home cooked meals or be meeting up at the many scrumptious
local restaurants (shown below).
Getting To and Fro:
Major airlines fly into Puerto Vallarta, including
Aeromar, Aeroton, Aeromexico, Alaska, America West, American, Delta,
