I am a Seattle yoga teacher teaching private yoga classes in the home and in my Pioneer Square studio.  My Seattle private yoga clients vary significantly in life experience, age, disposition, yoga experience, and body type, so each private yoga class is customized to one's unique needs.

I have been teaching yoga full-time since 2003, having now taught thousands of classes to many thousands of students.  My students range from 80 year old grandmothers to Olympic caliber athletes, from stay-at-home Moms to CEOs of Billion dollar corporations.

My teaching style blends yogic tradition with modern philosophy and psychology to help students apply their yoga practice to their busy Western lives.  Prior to my teaching yoga I was in the business world for more than a decade, including having founded a boutique sales consulting firm, and so I truly understand the rigours and stresses of that lifestyle!

Below are a few testimonials from current clients.  I encourage you to read through them as well as the rest of my website, and then pick up the phone and call (206.816.5263).

Barrie (age 42, client for 20 months):

I have been a yoga student of Lee Kaufman’s since November of 2006.  Prior to our decision to work together my experience with yoga was minimal and extremely discouraging.  Crowded classes and hard-to-follow instruction were the rule and I had decided that yoga just wasn’t my thing.  It turns out I just hadn’t met the right teacher.

With Lee’s precise verbal cues and gentle repositioning of my poses, I began to transform my muscles, my old patterns gave way to new ways of moving, and something much deeper began to resonate. So much of what Lee has encouraged to happen through the practice has translated to different parts of my life. Private yoga instruction is the greatest gift I’ve ever given to myself!

“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear”…this quote could not be more appropriate.  Thank you, Lee, for your encouragement and friendship and all that you’ve opened up in me.

Emmy (age 46, client for 17 months):

I am a 46 year old mom who has a regular meditation practice and an athletic life style.  I have also dabbled in yoga for years, though I never really understood it until Lee began teaching me.  With Lee as my private teacher, I now have a regular yoga practice in place.  I have always had difficulty “getting out of my head” which has made my spiritual growth slower than I would have liked.  Now after a year with Lee, my mind and body are more connected than ever and my spiritual life is deeper and richer than ever.

From the beginning of class, Lee is there, present.  He pays close attention and has good insight into my energy.  His presence keeps me rooted in the moment and the movements feel natural, balanced and healing.  Every class is different and I have extended my practice to include different types of breathe work and meditation, not just the typical yoga postures you find in an ordinary class.

Having hurt myself doing yoga in the past, I came to Lee cautious and protective of my body and its ability to move. Through a growing relationship of trust, he has helped me to realize I can move in ways I never dreamed possible. I have learned to trust Lee because he keeps his ego out of it and listens carefully when I talk.  I have come to realize he cares about my well-being and has a deep sense of how yoga can help me to heal and grow.

Through working with Lee, I have come to feel less self conscious and more at peace with myself and my body; and as a result, I can go even deeper into the yoga.  It hasn’t been easy, but nothing worth it ever is.

Besides being an amazing yoga teacher, Lee is a very easy going, likable and genuine person.
